Academic Writing

Improve IELTS Academic Writing — Task 1 & Task 2.

Academic Writing has two tasks in 60 minutes. Task 1 (150 words, 20 min) asks you to describe visual information — a chart, graph, table, process or map. Task 2 (250 words, 40 min) is a formal essay where you argue, discuss or propose solutions on an academic topic. Task 2 is worth twice as much, so structure and ideas matter as much as language.

2 Tasks • 60 minutes
Task 2 weighted 2×
